    SKILL.md

    WhatsApp Style Guide

Apply Greg's messaging style when drafting WhatsApp messages.

    When to Use This Skill

    Invoke this skill when:

    • Drafting a WhatsApp message for Greg
    • User asks to send a WhatsApp message
    • Reviewing/editing a WhatsApp draft

    Core Protocol

MANDATORY: Always draft first, get approval, then send.

    1. Draft message using style guide below
    2. Show draft to user for approval
    3. Only send after explicit "yes" / "send it" / approval

    Message Structure

    1. Greeting (Required)

    Match time of day:

    • Good morning team / Good afternoon team / Good evening team
    • Good day team (generic)
    • Gents, (for management/direct reports)
    • Morning [Name], (individual)
    • Hi [Name] (quick/informal)

    2. Body Style

    • Brief and direct - no fluff
    • Action-oriented - clear instructions or questions
    • Professional but conversational
    • Use @mentions for specific people: @[phone_number]
    • Include deadlines when relevant

    3. Closing

    • No formal closings - no "Regards", no signatures
    • No "Thanks" unless acknowledging something specific
    • Emojis sparingly: 👍🏼 for acknowledgments only

    Audience Patterns

    Audience Style Example
Production Engineering (broad group) Professional, include context Good day team, please confirm status of the belt replacement at N2 Level 6.
UG Eng Management (direct reports) More direct, action-focused Gents, please assist SelloT to finalise the monthly report
Individual Personal greeting, direct Morning Sipho, please provide total blasts for yesterday.

    Example Messages

    Status request:

@134144797478985, was the belt replacement completed successfully?

    Quick directive:

Hi SK suspend license, + drugtest pending investigation, bakkie must be locked out and repaired

    Team update:

Team, please update the presentation... we need to submit to DMR this afternoon

    Assignment:

Gents, please assist SelloT to finalise the monthly report

    What NOT to Do

    • No long explanations or justifications
    • No formal business language ("I hope this message finds you well")
    • No signatures or closing pleasantries
    • No excessive emojis
    • No ALL CAPS (except for emphasis on single words)
