The Role

Join us as one of the first five people at Smithery to build the infrastructure for AI agents and MCPs. As Founding Technical Staff, you'll be building a startup in its primordial phase and shipping in an environment that's high ownership, constantly changing, and fast-paced. Your work will define our product, culture, and technical foundations.

This role is flexible and the scope is up to us to mutually define. It may include:

• Architecting and scaling MCP hosting infrastructure
• Building systems for MCP discovery, CI/CD, and deployment
• Engineering AI agents that optimize tool calling
• Empowering and engaging with a community of developers

Area of Expertise

We're seeking people with deep expertise in one of these areas:

• Design engineering with exceptional UI/UX taste
• Distributed systems, containerization and infrastructure engineering
• Security, authentication and payments engineering
• Prompt engineering and building AI agents with LLMs
• Developer tools, SDKs, and API design
• Developer community building and growth hacking

Requirements

• Authorized to work in either U.S. or Singapore
• Able to travel to San Francisco for up to 8 weeks per year
• Comfortable in a hybrid (remote/in-person) work environment
